Ocean Gateway is a beautiful waterfront venue in Portland, Maine that is perfect for weddings. The venue has a large event space with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the harbor. The venue also has a rooftop terrace that is perfect for cocktail hour or a reception.

If you are planning a wedding at Ocean Gateway, there are a few things you need to prepare for:

  • Costs: The cost of a wedding at Ocean Gateway will vary depending on the size of your wedding and the time of year. The venue has a base rental fee of $10k. plus you will also need to pay for catering, alcohol, and other vendors. Some tables and chairs are available, but we recommend upgrading the chairs and using our custom linens.




Designing your space does not need to be complicated. We offer lighting, floral, draping, and lounge furniture to give you a custom look. Our team will set up and break down the space, so you show up ready to greet your guest in style.

  • Transportation: Portland is a walkable city, but you may want to consider renting buses or trolleys to transport your guests to and from the venue.

Here are some specific costs to consider when planning a wedding at Ocean Gateway:

  • Venue rental fee: The base rental fee for the Ocean Gateway event space is $10,000.

  • Catering: Catering costs will vary depending on the number of guests and the type of food you choose. You will need to pay for the kitchen equipment. There is no equipment available at this venue.

  • Alcohol: Alcohol costs will also vary depending on the number of guests and the type of alcohol you choose. We suggest hiring a full-service licensed bar for this. Make sure they are registered with the state of Maine and carry liability insurance. They will also need to pull a permit from the city prior to your event.

  • Other vendors: You will also need to factor in the cost of other vendors, such as photographers, florists, (us of course) Bands or DJs. and rentals.

  • If you do not hire a planner, make sure your caterer is on board with the setup and breakdown, the venue is not responsible for this nor is your caterer. If you hire Laurie Andrews Design as your planner, we will set up and break down your event, we will create a floor plan, and work with the venue and or caterer to make sure your space is just how you envisioned it.
